Adoption Day Celebrations Create New Families In Southwest Florida

More than two dozen foster children recently joined their forever families at mass adoption hearings hosted by Children’s Network of Southwest Florida (CNSWFL).

The hearings occurred at the Collier County Courthouse on Friday, November 21, and at the Lee County Courthouse on Saturday, November 22. A total of 25 children had their adoptions finalized at the events held in honor of National Adoption Day (November 22).

“Every adoption is a joyous occasion and represents the hard work of numerous people behind the scenes, including child welfare professionals, the judiciary, guardians ad litem, and the adoptive parents themselves,” said CNSWFL CEO Nadereh Salim. “We thank everyone who has worked together to give these young people a brighter future!”

Reunification with a foster child’s biological family is always the priority for CNSWFL. If reunification proves impossible, the court can terminate the biological family’s parental rights, making children eligible for adoption.

There is an urgent need for more adoptive families in Southwest Florida. For information on becoming an adoptive parent, visit ChildrensNetworkFlorida.org.

CNSWFL is the nonprofit lead agency that has administered the child welfare system in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades Counties since 2003.
