Many children in Southwest Florida have suffered abuse and neglect, and they long for a forever family. Adoption gives a child the priceless gift of a permanent home. Please ask yourself if adoption is right for you, then read our Frequently Asked Questions About Adoption, download our Adoption Services Brochure (PDF), and see Children Available for Adoption in our community.
The Adoption Process
The path to adopting a child in Southwest Florida involves the following steps:
2. Complete the Pre-Service Training:
Attend an orientation session followed by the 30-hour (6 week) parenting program called PRIDE. (In response to COVID-19, virtual options are available to complete this step online.).
3. Complete the Adoption Home Study: This includes background screenings, an inspection of the home, interviews of all household members, and reference checks.
4. Matching and Placement: You will change a life for good as an adoptive parent and help a child to grow up in a family where there is love, nurture and a sense of belonging.
